  • What time is check in and check out? Do I have to pay extra for early check in an/or late check out?
    • Check in starts at 14:00 hrs and check out is at 12:00 hrs. Complimentary early check in between 10:00 hrs and 14:00 hrs and/or check out after 12:00 hrs up until 16:00 hrs cannot be guaranteed and will only be granted on the day of arrival or departure itself if available and only when the reservation has been made directly through our website.When a reservation has been made using a third party, then early check in between 10:00 hrs and 14:00 hrs and late check out between 12:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs, if and when available, will be charged based on the room rate pro-rated on an hourly basis.

      Should you wish to have a guaranteed early check in or require a check in before 10:00 hrs, you will need to ensure your reservation starts from one night prior to your arrival date. You will be charged a full extra night as the room will be reserved for you and ready for you to check in upon arrival.

      Should you wish to have a guaranteed late check out or require a check out after 16:00 hrs, you will need to ensure your reservation ends one day after your departure date. You will be charged a full extra night as the room will be reserved for you and will not be open to reservations.

      If you do not require a late check out on your day of departure yet have a late flight out, we will happily keep your luggage and store it until you leave for the airport.

  • Are your rooms and suites smoking or non-smoking?
    • Our rooms and suites are strictly non-smoking, as are all of the indoors. Having said that, you will be able to smoke on the privacy of your verandah if you choose to book Viceroy, Jan van Spall, Aide de Camp or J. Thomas. We also have comfortable outdoor smoking areas throughout the hotel where you can enjoy your smoke of choice.
  • What is the voltage in India and is a converter needed?
    • The voltage in India is 220 volts which is the same as, or similar to, most countries in the world including Australia, Europe and the UK. However, it is different to the 110-120 volt electricity that’s used in the United States.If you wish to use an electronic appliance or device from the United States, or any country with 110-120 volt electricity, you’ll need a voltage converter if your appliance does not have dual voltage.These days, many travel devices such as laptop, camera and cell phone chargers can operate on dual voltage. Check to see if the input voltage states something like 110-220 V or 110-240 V. If it does, this indicates dual voltage. Although most devices adjust the voltage automatically, do be aware that you may need to switch the mode to 220 volts.

      People coming from countries with 220-240 volt electricity (such as Australia, Europe, and the UK) only require a plug adapter which Le Colonial will provide for the duration of your stay.

  • Does your restaurant cater to different dietary needs?
    • Yes, our chefs will take into account such dietary specifics as allergies and gluten intolerance and cater to vegetarians, vegans and/or other diets such as ketogenic when given advance notice. We can also provide basic western menus and spice free dishes for children (and sometimes adults) who miss their home food.
  • May I swap our complimentary dinner for a lunch instead? I am traveling alone, can I get a discount as I will be eating on my own?
    • If you have booked your room or suite through our website directly, then you will benefit complimentary half board, including traditional afternoon tea. You may, with 24 hours advance notice, swap your complimentary 3 course dinner for a complimentary set lunch instead.You may not cumulate meals from one day to the next. The rate remains unchanged whether there are one or two guests staying.
  • Is the hotel near shops? Will I be able to purchase basics I might have forgotten home?
    • All types of shops are on our doorstep and within walking distance, from tailors to mini marts, from the amazing Idioms Bookstore to antique dealers, from souvenir shops to branded sunglasses outlets… You will also enjoy our local FabIndia and Anokhi boutiques, the cool and elegant Cult Modern and Cinnamon boutiques where you can shop great home decor and fashion! So by all means, do not stress if you’ve left anything behind!If you are picky about specific products and brands however, we do recommend you purchase your toiletries and other travel items prior to flying to India as some brands can be difficult to find or simply not available.
  • Can I change currencies at Le Colonial? Are there ATMs near the hotel?
    • If you are travelling with key foreign currencies you would like to change to Rupees, we can organise a trusted broker exchange them at the hotel or we can recommend money changers within walking distance of the hotel.There are a few ATMs within walking distance to Le Colonial, however they may be out of cash so we do recommend you withdraw some cash at the airport. Also, you should remember to let your bank know that you are travelling to Kerala so that they will allow ATM withdrawals.
